Supreme Stonemasonry Ltd recently completed the careful removal of an internal load-bearing stone wall within a traditional cottage renovation project. Extensive temporary structural propping was installed prior to dismantling works commencing to ensure the building remained fully supported throughout the project.
Due to the structural nature of the property, temporary support systems were installed to safely carry the upper floor and roof loads while the original stone wall was dismantled. All works were carried out carefully and methodically to maintain the integrity and stability of the cottage throughout every stage of the project.
The original internal wall consisted of traditional solid stone construction. The wall was carefully dismantled in stages, with controlled removal of the masonry to avoid movement or damage to the surrounding structure. Waste materials were removed from site and the area prepared for the new open-plan layout.
The completed works transformed the layout of the cottage, creating a larger open-plan living space while retaining the character of the original property. The new structural opening significantly improved light and flow throughout the ground floor.
